Thanks for a nice stay. Arrived home last evening and was delighted.
The person who had been house-sitting for me had left things
scrupulously clean and there were soft lights to welcome me home. It
looked fabulous. I awakened this morning to a glorious sunrise around
6:30 AM and was struck anew with the beauty of this marvelous city.
Mountains, ocean, glorious architecture (and as elsewhere, some bad
taste), elegance, incredible food, a well-educated and well-traveled
population, a wonderful melange of cultures and people - what more could
you ask? Well, for one thing, AMSTERDAM!

were good, location was great and the service was even better. Our
original stay was to be for only 2 days, but Dee was able to accomodate
us with another room on short notice. The staff was very gracious and

Couldn't have asked for a better budget hotel in Amsterdam with all the

Message: We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in June 2003 and
loved it. There are only 9 rooms and the service is very personal, which
is what we really wanted, not another 200-room Hilton. Dee is a
wonderful hostess and it really added to our experience in Amsterdam. A
word of warning: the staircase is very steep, but that is not unusual
for Amsterdam. One thing that took some getting used to was mosquitos --
there are no nets on the windows and we spend an hour each night hunting
and clapping. The next day we wised up and bought some repellent :))
We recommend this hotel for budget travellers who love the flair of a
small local hotel with a SUPERB location and a WONDERFUL staff!

Message: i spent a week in room 1 (march 26 - Apr 02) 2003. and i
thought it was very nice. recieved complimentary laptop usage because i
was informed i might have trouble connecting. i never once had trouble
connecting and sent and recieved tons of emails. the room was cleaned
everyday. the toilet and shower were spotless. the staff was very
helpful. and even the guests were helpful. i would not hesitate to stay
there again and im already looking forward to my next trip to the dam.

wonderful staffers -- Moshe\' and Mostafa. We selected the Clemens Hotel
based on the numerous excellent reviews found on independent websites
and on the beautiful and informative hotel website itself. And we found
it all to be very accurate. Dee was the quintessential hostess and went
to extraordinary lengths to make us comfortable and welcome. The much
mentioned coffee and tea service was very appreciated and the physical
condition of the hotel was immaculate. For those searching for the
perfect location, it is hard to imagine better. We will certainly find

Message: Excellent location, very clean and decent breakfast for
7 euros. Two SMALL complaints: 1. The double bed in room 7 was not as
comfortable as I had hoped (but I do have a bad back) 2. No mention of
the street noise if you have a view of the western church or palace.

We Enjoyed Our Visit! Thanks Ever So Much!
We're home in South Carolina -- had a perfect return trip -- great
weather all the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Clemens and
especially enjoyed our conversations -- though brief -- with you. We
literally searched the stores -- including Dressmans -- for a large bag
but with no luck. So, the galvanized tub will remain in Amsterdam! We
took a photo of Sue "saying goodbye" -- she really hated to leave it
behind. Hope you can make use of it as a terrace planter or something.
If not, set it out on Raadhuisstraat, and I'm sure it will find a home!
Thank you for the use of the laptop -- we got online long enough one
night to send out our Ecards from Webshots.com -- a favorite of ours.
Good luck with the switch over to the new DSL hookup.
We congratulate you on your friendly staff -- we found Moshe' (the "fat
one") and Mostafa (the "skinny one") to always be ready to assist with
anything we needed. We left them ten Euros each as a token and hope that
was adequate.
Please let them both know how much we appreciated their kindness.
Lastly, we enjoyed your beautiful city so very much and rate it at the
top of our list. We've visited NYC, LA, Honolulu, London, Paris, Rome,
Rio, Montreal, etc. and can honestly say we'd return for another visit
before any of these. Perhaps the perfect weather biased us a bit, but we
are in love with Amsterdam. Thank you again for making it even more

Message: Good priced budget hotel in a central location. Stayed
for 2 nights, staff friendly bar one very abrupt man who was less than
helpful. Breakfast was excellent and more than enought.
During our stay we did have issues with the showers having cold water
and 1 toilet and 1 shower was broken during our stay.
I would still recommend the hotel as the rooms were clean, basic, and
the location is good for the price.
